Where can gift cards be used?
The advantage of gift cards is that unlike merchant-specific cards, they can be used to make purchases anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted. You can use a gift card at literally thousands of retail, restaurant and entertainment locations throughout the U.S. – as well as online.

Are gift cards the same as credit cards?
No. Gift cards are prepaid Visa cards that carry a fixed cash amount determined by the gift card purchaser. Each time you use the card, the purchase amount is deducted from the available balance.

Can gift cards be reloaded?
Individual cards cannot be “reloaded,” but you always have the option to purchase additional gift cards for yourself or for someone special in your life.

Can a merchant give cash back on a gift card?
Merchants can deduct purchases from gift card accounts, but they cannot offer cash back as part of the Gift Card service.

Do gift cards have expiration dates?
Yes, gift cards expire when the remaining balance reaches $0 or on the expiration date shown on the front of the card. A small, monthly $2.50 service fee is waived for the first six months and then is deducted from card balances the first of the month (beginning in the seventh month) until the balance is $0 or the card expires.

How do I register my gift card and what is the benefit of doing so?
You may register your gift card online at MyPrepaidBalance.com or via the My Prepaid app* by creating an account, adding your card and editing the default registration information to your own information.  Registering your card will provide the additional security required to allow you to check your balance, view your transaction history, use your card for phone and online purchases, and request a replacement should your card become lost or stolen.

What if I notice fraudulent charges or my gift card is lost or stolen?
Please contact customer service immediately at 866.496.6183 if you have noticed fraudulent charges or your card is lost or stolen.  A live agent will assist you.  It may take up to 10 days to receive your replacement card.  A lost or stolen gift card cannot be replaced if the card was never registered via MyPrepaidBalance.com or the My Prepaid app**.
